How To Prepare For Surgery
Day Before Surgery
You will be receiving anesthesia and/or sedation, therefore you must arrange for a responsible adult to drive you home. It is strongly recommended that you have someone with you at home for 24 hours after surgery. If you are having a surgical procedure, you may not drink or eat anything after midnight the night before your surgery.
Day of Surgery
Do not eat or drink anything – including water, mints or gum – after midnight or on the morning of your surgery, unless you receive different instructions from your surgeon or nurse. The anesthesiologist recommends no smoking 24 hours prior to surgery. Note: If you routinely take prescribed medications in the morning for heart disease or high blood pressure, please take them with a small sip of water, unless you receive different instructions from your physician or nurse. Further instructions regarding any prescription medications that your currently taking will be given from your doctor and or the pre-op nurse.
Please shower or bathe the night before or the morning of your surgery. You may brush your teeth or gargle the morning of surgery, but do not swallow any water, mouthwash or liquid.
Do not shave the surgical site or surrounding area.
Any lab work required for your procedure must be completed before you arrive for surgery. Bring any completed forms and your insurance card, picture ID and any other insurance information with you. Please be prepared to pay your co-pay the day of surgery. For your convenience we accept Visa, MasterCard, check or cash.
