A native of Long Island, New York, Dr. Erwteman completed his undergraduate studies at the Pennsylvania State University. After college, he attended New York University where he received his doctoral degree in physical therapy. Dr. Erwteman worked in an outpatient physical therapy practice in Manhattan, for 4 years when he decided to pursue a career in medicine. He received his medical degree from New York Medical College. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at The University of Connecticut Medical Center in Farmington, Connecticut, and his sports medicine fellowship at the San Diego Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine Fellowship in San Diego, California. He gained experience working with multiple high school, collegiate, and professional sports teams during his fellowship year. Following his fellowship training, he joined a private practice in Murrieta, California.
