Michael Santomauro, M.D., is a fellowship-trained Board certified urologist. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Ocean Engineering from the United States Naval Academy, and completed his Doctorate in Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA. After medical school, he was commissioned in the United States Navy where he then completed his preliminary studies in General Surgery in San Diego, CA. Doctor Santomauro then served onboard USS Germantown, where he deployed to the Arabian Gulf in support to the war on terror. After his deployment, he continued his Urology training and completed his residency at Naval Medical Center San Diego. Upon completion of his residency he completed a fellowship in minimal invasive surgery at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, CA.
Dr. Santomauro has been practicing in California for the past six years as a staff urologist, training residents in minimal invasive techniques at the Navy’s residency training center in San Diego before joining Genesis Healthcare Partners. Dr. Santomauro is a member of the American College of Surgeons, American Urological Association, Western section – American Urologic Association, San Diego Urologic Association, and Society of Government Service Urologists. In addition, he was one of two urologists selected for an exchange program in Brazil for 2019.
In his spare time, Dr Santomauro enjoys the Southern California lifestyle by surfing and cooking pizzas outside with his wife, two daughters, and their dog. He is also fluent in Portuguese.
